The Vancouver Design Nerds are a network of collaborating designers and artists who share a desire to engage in whimsical acts of urban transformation and other design opportunities. The diversity and inclusiveness of the group enriches the design process and propels discussion far beyond the prescribed parameters of a project, revealing opportunities and unanticipated, often surprising results.

Design Nerd Jams are our oxygen. Initiated to foster multidisciplinary collaboration between designers and artists of all persuasions, the Design Nerd Jams are a forum for creative people to discuss their projects and ideas. Essentially IDEA FACTORIES!

I have been deeply involved with the Nerds since arriving in Vancouver in 2004, which is kind of crazy and also a testament to my inherent nerdiness and desire to collaborate with others. I have enjoyed watching this organization grow from a casual social night in living rooms to producing jams for clients with 100+ attendees while covering some serious topics. I’ve also worn many hats over the years: director, facilitator, communications committee chair and social innovator in residence mentor.
