Teeter Bench for Viva Vancouver
Category : civic engagement, urban design

The teeter bench is a project I co-designed and built with fellow Design Nerds specifically for International PARK(ing) Day.
On 21 September, 2018, we invited passers-by to take a break from their daily missions, to pause and play on our teeter bench and to sit back in our lounge to reflect on questions about belonging in Vancouver and what citizen engagement means to them.
It can be used in multiple ways – as a teeter totter, a balance bench, with one, two, three, four… or more? people on it at once. The goal is to find equilibrium by shifting weight and improvisation.
